BOOK APPOINTMENT
Richard promotes a therapeutic environment that allows people to be themselves, open up to possibilities and securely manage change. He is sensitive to individuality and values philosophy, where the big questions about life are explored. He embraces sex-positivity, neurodiversity and is LGBTQIA+ inclusive.
Richard works to reduce the power of difficult thoughts and feelings. He encourages individuals to pick up ignored but valued life directions and collaborates with them to get closer to the person they want to be. He encourages the power of creativity and imagination.
Richard has experience working in the not-for-profit and private sectors of mental health, supporting young adults through to older persons presenting with mental health issues including; difficulties arising from negative thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations; recovery from trauma, neglect and abuse; relationship issues; grief/loss and existential issues; self-confidence/esteem concerns and; anxiety issues, including panic and excessive worry.
He is interested in the study of unconscious processes from the perspectives of social psychology and neurobiology, as well as via the mind/body connection. Above all, he is a person-centred therapist in the humanist tradition.
